Dell PowerEdge-C C8000 – A Hyper-V and SMB 3.0 Concept Part #1|The Hardwareplatform

I’m currently thinking about some Hyper-V and SMB 3.0 concepts that include the Dell PowerEdge-C C8000 dense chassis.

But before start with the concept series I want to show you some videos and guides about the C8000. I think the will help to you to find the right concept for your environment.

How to enable SR-IOV for Hyper-V on a Dell PowerEdge-C C1100/C2100

First reboot the server and press “F2” to enter the “System Setup”

In BIOS Main Menu please click on “Advanced”

Now click on “PCI configuration”

In the “PCI Configuration” Menu change “SR-IOV Supported” to “enabled”:

Now press “ESC” on your keyboard to leave the menu.

Back in the “Advanced Menu” click on “Exit” in the top right corner.

In the next menu please save the settings and restart the server. After the restart the changes will take effect.

How to enable max. performance on a Dell PowerEdge-C C1100 & C2100

Like you saw in one of my last posts, which BIOS Settings you have to change for maximum performance on Dell PowerEdge 11th & 12th Gerneration, you can do the same with PowerEdge-C C1100 and C2100

First reboot the server and press “F2” to enter the “System Setup”

In BIOS Main Menu please click on “Advanced”

Now click on “CPU configuration”

In the “CPU Configuration” Menu look after following settings and change them as follow:

INTEL SPEEDSTEP™ TECH (Enabled for OS default) to enabled
INTEL TURBOMODE TECH (Enabled default) to enabled
INTEL C-STATE TECH (Enabled default) to diabled
C3 STATE (Disabled default) to disabled
C6 STATE (Disabled default) to disabled

Now press “ESC” on your keyboard to leave the menu.

Back in the “Advanced Menu” click on “Exit” in the top right corner.
